From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Senate Spokesman, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, was at the weekend assaulted, booed and stoned in Kontagora, the headquarters of Niger North Senatorial District where he represents in the senate over non performance.
The senator was re4portedly elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a result of the acceptability of President Muhammadu Buhari and the support gathered for him by the late Emir of Borgu, Sen. Haliru Dantoro.
The senator called the area’s party executive for a meeting that was held in the town hall in Kontagora, which was the first time he was having such a meeting since after his election in 2015.
However, the party officials could not hide their feelings against the senator, which resulted into insults, disgrace and stoning by the executive members of the party in Kontagora.
Consequently, the senator was said to have been asked why he was coming to meet with them when it was only a year away to 2019 general election; to which he could not give any satisfactory answer.
He was further asked to list the projects if any, that he did or attracted to Kontagora or if he gave any financial support for students of his constituency.
According to report, in his response, he stated that the Buhari government has not given them any money nor funded their constituency projects.
His response was said not to have gone down well with the executives, who at this point became more provoked and asked if it was his father that gave other elected members in the National Assembly money with which they have been executing projects and empowering their youths, citing example with Hon. Idris Abdullahi Garba and others.
The executive members also accused him of collaborating with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and other senators to frustrate the good programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sources hinted that they told him to his face that his godfather, Senator Bukola Saraki, cannot save him in 2019.
They asked him where he got money to buy a Twins Duplex located on Kainji Crescent in Maitama, Abuja worth over six hundred and fifty million naira, even as they alleged that they are aware of houses he built and bought in Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to sources, when the attack and threat of assault was too much, the senator became jittery and was crying openly before the crowd.
As if the senator knew what will befall him, he invited the security comprising the mobile police and men of the Civil Defence, but this did not deter the executives from assaulting the senator.
The source said he was chased out of the hall surrounded by heavy security and apparently whisked away in a Peugeot 406 car which was smashed by the aggrieved members of the constituency, adding that even the Civil Defence Pickup was equally smashed.
As he was driven out of the premises, the cars that accompanied him were also stoned, just as some of the executives followed him to Jamal Hotel where he lodged but could not get at him, according to the source.
According to investigation by our correspondent, other local governments in his constituency said they are waiting for him to visit them too.
It could be recalled that early this year, the senator faced a similar attack in a town called Babanna, Borgu Local Government and Rofia in Agwara Local Government respectively.
But in a swift response, the Senator’s Campaign Director General, Alhaji Mohammed Garba Danladi, in a telephone chat, said that “Senator Sabi has done well in service delivery and provided dividend of democracy to his people”.
He added that “I wondered why the meeting was turned to the unfortunate incident which the Senator did not deserve”.
