Abuja chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Elders and Stakeholders Forum (NEESF) and National Councillors Forum of North Central (NCFNC), have come out to support Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume’s candidature for senate presidency.
The two fora, made up of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in FCT briefed journalists to that effect recently in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of NEESF, its Acting Chairman (Ag), Retired Major Peter Janka said the essence of forming the organisation was to promote mutual relationship between the arms of government for the interest of the citizens.
To achieve this, the organisation said it has to join millions of Nigerians to congratulate the senators’ – elect, as well as support Senator Ali Ndume’s candidature as the nineth senate president, based on his antecendents when he was a house member to the present time he represents Borno south senatorial district at the senate.
According to the AG Chairman, as a party loyalist and an experienced politician and legislator, Ndume as a senate leader defended all letters and bills requesting for senate approval, adding that his defence of President Muhammad Buhari’s nomination cost the senator his position.
Appealing for senators’-elect’s support for Ndume, the Ag Chairman said every senator had right to vie for the position, but was quick to add that the senator was the initiator of North East Development Initiative which has been made a commission.
With his experience and contributions in the senate, he went on, Ndume if elected senate president will do more for the north east and the country in general.
Similarly, the Chairman, NCFNC, Hon Dogara John Bassa said his association was against imposing of a leader to the nineth senate, adding that it is breach to other senators’ franchise.
Congratulating the seanators-elect and appealing to them to support and vote in Ndume as senate president, Dogara therefore said his organisation’s support to Ndume was to ensure that a leader who will support President Buhari to actualise his achievements for Nigerians emerges. He said Ndume was not only a liberal and an experienced legislator, but also a detribalised legislator who if elected would work for the interest of the country in.
