Senate yesterday confirmed seven out of the nine nominees to serve as Resident Electoral Commissioners of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after a report was submitted by the Chairman, Senate Committee on the electoral commission, Senator Suleiman Nazif to the plenary The nominee of Akwa Ibom, Elder Monday udom Tom was stepped down while the osun REC nominee Eric Olawale didn’t turn up for screening.
The confirmation followed the successful screening of individual nominee at the Committee level.
“That the Senate do consider the report of the Committee on INEC on the screening of the following nominees for confirmation of appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Those confirmed are: Baba Abba Yusuf (Borno), Mr. Segun Agbaje (Ekiti), Elder Monday Udom Tom (Akwa Ibom), Eric Olawale (Osun) and Dr. Uthman Abdulrahman (Kwara).
Others are: Dr. Cyril Omorogbe (Edo), Yahaya Bello (Nasarawa), Dr. Emmanuel Alex Hart (Rivers) and Mohammed Magaji Ibrahim (Gombe).
In his remarks, Senate President, Bukola Saraki sustained the Committee reports, while thanking the Committee for the detailed screening of nominees.
