Senate has confirmed Chinelo Anohu-Amazu as Director General of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), even as it confirmed Captain Muhktar Usman the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The two Director Generals were recently nominated by President Goodluck Jonathan in a letter to Senate President, David Mark, asking the upper chamber to confirm their appointments.

In the letter, President Jonathan had said the appointment was in consonance with the provisions of the Pension Reform Act 2004 as amended.

Recall that Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, who represents south east in the PENCOM, had been in acting capacity since December 2012 when the tenure of the former Director General, M. K. Ahmad ended.

While congratulating her on her confirmation, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary, charged the new DG to bring transformation to the pension industry to ensure that pensioners are paid their entitlement as at when due.

Meanwhile, six months after President Jonathan sacked Fola Akinkuoto as the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Civil Authority( NCAA), Captain Muhktar Usman was yesterday confirmed by the Senate as the new boss of NCAA.

President Jonathan had two weeks ago written a letter to the Senate requesting for the confirmation of Usman as NCAA boss.

It was alleged that the sack of former boss of NCAA and other aviation heads of parastatals was because of the fallout of the bullet proof car purchase by the former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.
