As preparations remain in top gear for the 2015 general elections, the senator representing Jigawa South West, Abdulmumini Hassan, has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2015 senatorial seat of the Jigawa South West District.
Hassan, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja, promised to sustain the political ideologies of the state Governor, Dr. Sule Lamido, whom he described as his mentor and sustaining force of democratic values both in Nigeria and Jigawa State in particular.
“The governor gave me all my political orientation. PDP has given me another opportunity to go the same process towards contesting the same senatorial seat for the second term come 2015”, he said.
While recounting his political stewardship in his last four years in the Senate, Hassan said he has constructed about fifty classrooms, dug over hundred hand pumps and twelve solar powered boreholes, training of over 300 youths in various fields as well as the distribution of over 350 wheelchairs to physically challenged.
Others, according to him are: construction of surgery theatre in Kiyawa Health Center, renovation of health centres, conducting of free eye surgery, among others.
He pointed out that the above programmes and policies were executed to complement the efforts of the state government at providing development projects for the people in the state, even as he commended the state Governor, the Jigawa PDP chapter, and his constituents for giving him the opportunity to contest for a re-election.
He therefore assured his constituents and supporters of his resolve to always prioritise the issue of education and general welfare of the people of the state, adding that items including: grinding machines, sewing machines, block molding machines, wheelchairs, water pumps for irrigation farming, among others would soon be distributed to them.
Speaking on his achievements in the Senate, he said he has sponsored four bills, and sponsored many motions, which he listed as: Fire Service Amendment Act 2012, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Amendment) Bill 2013.
While mentioning the Building Collapse Motion he sponsored, Senator Hassan also said he also sponsored the Economic and Financial Crime Court (Establishment) Bill 2013 and the National Directorate of Employment (Amendment) Bill 2013.
Meanwhile, he expressed hope that he will emerge victorious at the polls in the 2015, promising to sponsor bills and other legislations that will help to advance the living standard of his constituents and Nigerians generally.
