The senator representing Niger South Senatorial District of Niger state, Zainab Abdulkadir Kure, has obtained Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form to contest for the senatorial seat for the third time.
Kure, who made the declaration after obtaining the form at the sum of N4.5 million at the PDP secretariat in Minna yesterday, noted that her decision to run for a third term was informed by the calls from different groups and individuals from her zone, who have weighed her achievements and contributions in the Senate.
She said that unlike the executive arm of government, the legislature has no term limit, while urging the party to give her maximum support in order to return to the senate for the benefit of the state.
She said that the third term bid would earn her higher position in the senate and equally give her an opportunity to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
She insisted that with or without zoning, she was eligible to run for the seat since she belongs to Lavun, Edati, Mokwa Federal Constituency by birth and also to Agaie, Lapai Federal Constituency by marriage, even as she noted that there was no agreement from any quarter that after two tenures, she should step down for any candidate from the zone.
While highlighting some of her achievements to include facilitating the establishment of the Institute of Marine Studies at Ibrahim Badamas Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai, rehabilitation and reconstruction of ongoing Bida- Makwa road, securing federal appointment for the people of the zone, scholarship awards, women and youths empowerment among others.
