No fewer than 1,697 rustled cattle have been recovered in the last three months by the operatives of Operation ‘Karamin Goro’ in three local governments of Niger state.
The State Director General on Nomadic, Ardo Abdullahi Babayo made the disclosure yesterday in Minna while urging those whose cattle were rustled to come for identification of their cattle for collection as directed by the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
Babayo stated that the recovered cattle were from Zazzaga in Munya with 603 cows, 238 sheep, from Rafi with 606 cows, 206 sheep while from Bangi they recovered 69 cows last week and at Zara in Rafi they had further recovered 10 cows, 5 sheep and 27 goats from the rustlers.
He explained that the recovery was made possible because of the joint security operatives put in place by the state government to ensure it curbs the challenges of rustling, kidnapping and robbery perpetuated by some criminals in the state.
The DG hinted that the operatives consisted of Nigerian Army, Air Force, State Security Service (SSS) and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) while commending them for the massive recovery within few weeks of its operation.
He applauded the surveillance put in place to checkmate all the sport places of crimes noting that a number of culprits were arrested in connection with exhibit to the crime who are been investigated by the police for prosecution soonest.
He appreciated the state Governor for the measures put in place to ensure security of lives and properties in the state charging for its sustenance
