Security Operatives in Asaba, Delta State have arrested twenty five suspected election riggers with fake ballot papers allegedly dumped in one of the classrooms on Saturday at Okwe Primary School in Okwe community.
Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), ASP Chucks Orisewezie who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to Journalists in Asaba over the weekend , disclosed that the security operatives acted on intelligence gathering to uncover where the ballot papers were dumped in one of the classrooms as they were allegedly dishing out orders on how the papers will put into the INEC ballot boxes.
ASP Chucks Orisewezie said:” the suspects were arrested in one of the classrooms at the primary school by security operatives who acted on intelligence gathering with fake ballot papers, including some wrapped of Indian hemps, the suspects are currently being detained at the state CID for further investigation.”
Meanwhile, the Police have confirmed the missing of two persons at Uteokpu community in Ika north east local government area of the after they were said to have voted in one of the pulling units and were on their way home.
Orisewezie , said the Police have intensified search for them, adding the Police will do everything possible to ensure they found, and reunite with their families.
He said, ” the Police have commenced serious search for two persons missing at Uteokpu community after they had voted, and were on their way to their homes when they were allegedly abducted, the Police are currently doing its best to uncover those behind their abduction, the Police are combing everywhere for them.”
But Sebastian Okoh, All Progressive Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate who spoke to journalists in Umunede community said,” the two missing persons were allegedly abducted by PDP loyalists and chieftains because they resisted the way and manners APC members were subjected to serious beating and humiliation, so the two boys were allegedly abducted after they were beaten seriously, two journalists were also abducted by same PDP suspected thugs until the intervention of the police men for the area command.”
Sources alleged that Uteokpu,Uteoruwon, and Utegboje communities are worse hit in elections’ violence as most cases political thugs allegedly unleash terrors on their targets, especially those in the opposition, and are not willing to close their eyes to their electoral malpractice during elections.
A resident of Uteokpu community who spoke to Journalists on condition of anonymity said” the three communities are no go areas during elections, especially as PDP strong hold, any opposition has no place in the scheme of things, the hit squad is led by on Hilary, he has Boys he uses to execute the evils, but God will one day answer him in all the evils he had been involved.”
But Dr ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, the state PDP publicity secretary in a swift reaction dispelled as untrue, adding” no PDP person get involved in evil, it’s not true that the bad boys in the three communities are members of PDP, our party is a great party with credible persons.”
