The command’s spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed, told newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, that the gunmen stormed the town around midnight on Wednesday in three Hilux vans.
Mohammed said that the security forces who were on “red alert,’’ engaged the assailants in a gun battle which forced them to retreat.
“Security forces engaged the unknown gunmen who stormed Misau town around midnight on Wednesday.
“The gunmen, who came in a convoy of three Hilux vans, were forced to escape with bullet wounds and we are on their trail.’’
It could be recalled that the police confirmed on Wednesday that gunmen snatched two Hilux vans belonging to the United Nations, following an attack on Soro town in Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Mohammed said the incident occurred at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Soro town is on Bauchi-Maiduguri highway.
Mohammed said the attackers, numbering about 20, also snatched another Hilux van belonging to the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV). (NAN)
