Security: Bauchi Igbo association calls for vigilance

The Igbo Development Association in Bauchi state has urged security agencies to be pro-active in responding to distress calls to curb the menace of crime and the  war against  insurgency in  the country. Just as they called on the federal government not to relent in its determination to ensure that Nigeria remains united.

The President-General of the Igbo Development Association in Bauchi state, Chief Itanyi Virginus Okwudili stated this in Bauchi on Monday, during  an inaugural meeting of the newly elected officials of the association.

According to him, the war against terrorism remains a global phenomenon and serious challenges to economic and social development of every society.

Okwudili, who doubles as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to governor Yuguda on community relations, said that the essence of the group is to enhance better environment for creating harmonious relationship with Northern extraction with a particular interest for economic boast.

The association attributed the current security challenges faced in the country to saboteurs against the policies and programmes of government for the yearning and aspiration of people and cautioned against sentiments.

According to the President-General, the basis of electing new officials, is to pilot the affairs of the Igbo extraction in the state, and to champion the cause of fostering unity to keep members informed about meaningful development relating to the cause of Igbo.

Okwudili also charged the Igbos in the country to shun their differences and embrace one another and respect the constituted authority, irrespective of their locations.

“Igbos are known for peace and unity everywhere in the world, I therefore charge trouble and mischief makers to desist from the act as the present leadership would not allow itself to be dragged into the mud for selfish interest” Okwudili said.
