The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon Hashimu Yakubu Saidu Angama has said that the chances of his party winning all elective positions in the nation’s capital were bright.
Speaking to pressmen recently in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) secretariat, Area 10 Garki, the secretary said the APC-led government in the FCT has performed above average by fulfilling its election promises to the people, stressing that even if there were conflicts in a big party like the APC, they would settle it amicably as a family.
In the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said: “It has become a tradition in Nigeria that a president serves two terms. So Atiku or no Atiku, President Muhammad Buhari shall serve his second term, because he has delivered. That Atiku is rich will not stop us from victory come 2019. Buhari deserves reelection and he will be re-elected by the grace of God, because his performance is speaking die him.”
When asked, he acknowledged the clash between the security agencies and Shiite members which has not only been claiming lives, but also disturbing peace in the FCT, but he was quick to say that issue of insecurity in the country presently has been reduced to the barest minimum to be compared with what was obtainable during the past government, just as he threw with a wave of hands, issue of the inability of the president to produce his school certificate. In defense, he said Buhari was there for four years, presented his certificate and wondered why it should be a new thing. He said: “My question is, can he be elected, if he didn’t have certificate? We should be sincere with ourselves. This man has been there for about four years now. We should be talking of relevant thing that would move this country.”
Calling on party members and the entire people of the FCT to embrace peace and rally round the party come 2019 general elections for the party to continue to deliver, Hon Angama said the recently decamping of one person to the PDP wouldn’t remove a single hair from the APC in Abuja. He also appealed for peaceful election in 2019, as well as advised politicians to seek for the face of God in their struggle to serve Nigerians.
