The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has charged Nigerians who believe in democracy and rule of law not to be deterred by the obvious vote robbery in Ekiti State on Saturday because it would not stand the test of the almighty.
Secondus said that Justice has the stamina to go all the way to the destination while injustice cannot, as it terminates midway to the race, what we need is patience.
In a statement from his media office signed by his media Adviser Ike Abonyi, Secondus thanked Nigerians particularly those who stood by the party during the struggle for Ekiti and assured them that Justice surely will prevail.
He said that PDP knew from inception that rescuing Nigeria from anti democratic forces is not going to be an easy thing, but has remained emboldened by the fact that Nigerians are resolved to stop the circle of bad governance, violence and bloodletting in our land today.
According to him, “What I want to assure Nigerians and other lovers of democracy and rule of law is that PDP and its partners are undaunted and will not look back until this country is rescued from the hands of bad rulers””I want to thank in particular the new coalition for the rescue of Nigeria, the CUPP for their support and determination to free Nigeria from the hands of APC misrule.
“The signs are there both in the spirit and physical world that God has decided to rescue Nigeria and the journey has since begun, what we need is patience and steadfastness”
Prince Secondus charged all in the rescue team to note that saving our democracy and rescuing Nigeria is not going to be an easy journey but noted that what is clear is that those on the side of the people laughs last and indeed they laugh best”
Finally, he charged all PDP supporters across the county particularly in Ekiti state to eschew violence which PDP is never associated with and wait for the rule of law which surely will prevail.
Talking on the same page, former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party had an excellent candidate in Prof. Kolapo
Olubunmi Olusola in the Ekiti Governorship election and gave solid support to the state chapter of the party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has, however, announced Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, as the winner of the election.
Narrow as his victory may have been, and irregularities notwithstanding, Atiku Abubakar urged all PDP supporters in Ekiti State to remain peaceful and orderly and cooperate with the party at the state and national levels as they determine the next steps.
He commended Prof. Kolapo Olubunmi Olusola, who has shown great restraint and stands in solidarity with Governor Ayodele Fayose, whose commitment to the people of Ekiti continues to inspire Nigerians beyond the state.
“We will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with them through these difficult times” Atiku said.
