Rural electrification has been described as the bedrock of economic growth in Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the National Electrification Agency (REA), Kenneth Achugbu in Abuja recently.
He stated that his agency which is well aware of the role of rural electrification in the development of the nation has initi ated over 40 projects nationwide to restructure Nigeria’s rural electrification and encourage investor’s participation.
In his words: “With rural electrification, the grassroots will come alive with economic activities which will go a long way in
strengthening the economy” Achugbu further stated that he is committed to service of delivering rural electricity to the people, adding that he has a covenant with God to serve the people.
He called on Nigerians especially those living in rural areas to exercise greater confidence in the works of the agency as well as other electricity distribution firms by tapping into the available electricity to boost their business, while complying with the rules of electricity distribution and use of same.
“We also would like to call on the people to make good use of the various forms of electricity available to them and to ensure that they pay their bills so that the sector will function effectively”. He stated.
