From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna
The Governor of Imo State and a presidential aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said it is time for Nigerians to rise up and make sure that the sixteen years of painful and terror reign by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is stopped once and for all if the citizens want to lay a foundation for a better, united and prosperous Nigeria.
He stated this in Kaduna yesterday while receiving expression of interest form to contest the presidential seat purchased for him by the National Movement for Rochas Okoroacha.
The Imo State Governor said Nigerians have been living in a situation that is unacceptable for fifteen years because poverty, insecurity and wanton loss of lives and property have become the order of the day.
According to him, the 2015 elections presents an opportunity for Nigerians to take their destiny in their hands by making a change. “We have three major problems in this country; one of them is that of insecurity, dividing the country along ethnic and religious lines and the fallen standard of education.
“Unfortunately the present administration is not doing anything to stop it. Today, I your brother with the title Jikan Sokoto and a man who has lived in the North for all my life, I can tell you that those who are plunging the country into the present mess are doing so deliberately. I don’t want you to believe that they’re only focusing in the North. We in the South-East and South-West are not left out. Anywhere PDP cannot find its way they destroy it.
“We’re blessed with enough resources to cater for our people if properly enhanced but unfortunately the so-called elites only care for themselves and families forgetting about the so-called down trodden. That’s why even before you, the masses called me out to contest for the
president, my foundation has built many schools for the masses and today I was with the Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris earlier where we performed the ground breaking ceremony for a new school for the Almajiri in Zaria because everybody deserves attention.
“Let me also say that those who know me, know that I don’t believe in do or die politic if it’s the will of Allah that I’ll fly the flag of APC in the presidential race, so be it. But if another person emerges I call on you, my supporters to rally round such person because our aim is to remove this corrupt system from power in other to guarantee the future of our children.
Those who believe in Nigeria, peace and The National Coordinator of Rochas Okoroacha Movement, Comrade Kassim Mohammed Kassim said the support for Governor Okoroacha arise from his
numerous achievements and care for the masses. According to him Governor Okoroacha has distinguished himself as the advocate of the masses and urged all and sundry to support his presidential bid.
