Two Nigeria National League, NNL sides, Road Safety FC of Abuja and Niger Tornadoes of Minna Thursday played out a 1-1 draw in a high profile friendly encounter at Area 3 Play Ground, Garki, Abuja.
The match which kicked off at 8 saw the away side dictating the tune but the safety guys were the ones to draw first save from the Tornadoes goal keeper in the early minutes of the encounter.
The first 45 minutes ended in a barren draw with neither side being able to find the curtain raiser.
With the restart of the match, Road Safety went rampart, threatening the Tornadoes defence but they remained resolute.
The visitors rattled the safety boys when a Tornadoes attacker was given a through ball few inches from the 18 yard but his miscued shot went off target.
With the match clocking 70 minutes, Nduka Chidera scored for the Road Safety after a counter attack that split the Tornadoes defence.
However, the celebration lasted not long as a defensive foul by Road Safety defender gifted Tornadoes a free kick inches away from the 18 yard box.
Afeez Nasiru stepped up and scored the equaliser beating the goalkeeper to it.
Speaking after the match, Road Safety coach, Akin Onigbinde commended his players for a job well done adding that the team will take positives from the match and make amendments where they noticed lapses.
He added that with the date for resumption of the league still unknown, the team will still play one or two high profile matches to prepare the players ahead of the league matches.
On his part, Niger Tornadoes head coach described the match as a good one but added that his players were not up to their standard.
While noting that the technical crew will fix the shortcomings noticed, he added that their opponents were a good side.
So far, Road Safety FC have played five matches, winning 3, draing one and recording one loss.
