Road accident: Niger govt condoles with 21 deceased families

The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has condoled with the families of the 21 persons, mostly youths who died and others who injured near Gwada in Shiroro local government on Friday.
The accident involved a trailer truck with registration number JJJ318XN that was returning from Kuta Market, carrying many wheel barrow, youths, bags of foodstuffs, caws and several other valuables.
According to Governor Bello, the cause of the accident was over loading, over speeding and the sharp corner which made the driver lost control that led to the unfortunate accident.
He, however, offset the medical bills of the injured and released one million naira for the families of the deceased.
He said that a technical team would be sent to the place to ascertain the line of action to be taken to avert future occurrences.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Local Government, Alhaji Akilu Musa warned the road unions to sensitize their members to desist from over loading their vehicles and obey traffic regulations that have cost many lives in the country.
He announced the sympathy of the state government over the loss of lives and prayed for their eternal rest in Al-Jannan Firdaus.
Speaking, the District Head of Gwada, Jafaru Musa appreciated the kind gesture of the state government, adding that it was unfortunate but God gives life and takes it when he wanted.
A youth who is also a councilor, Jibrin Ladan in an interview with journalists expressed dismay over the incident and appealed to the state government to as a matter of urgency expand the portion of the road to avoid the recurrent accident in that particular area.
The accident vehicle have been deposited at the divisional police headquarter in Gwada.
