No fewer than 18 people were confirmed dead along Jega to Yauri local government areas of the Kebbi state yesterday following a road accident that took place in the night around 3; am, involving an 18 seater bus, with registration number BDU 291XA.
The bus was said to be coming from Ilorin to Sokoto, when they had a head-on collision with a trailer which left Sokoto heading south.
Confirming the incident to Peoples Daily during an interview, one of the survivals, Helen Olusoa said that she and two men including the driver were the only survivor victims, adding that the trailer’s driver lost control as a result of an attempt to dodge a pothole.
“You see I thank God my friend whom was in the same seat as also gone’’ she lamented.
Speaking to newsmen at the scene, the DPO of jega local government Abdulahi Badamsi said that the deceased have been transfer and deposed at Jega mortuary Hospital.
Also speaking the Road safety officer in charge of Jega local government, Mohammed Kudu Idris said that only three passengers survived the accident while the late ones have been taken to hospital for further investigation.
