There are indications that erstwhile Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is currently under intense pressures from stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dump his All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to contest the oncoming governorship bye-election in Adamawa state on the platform f the party.

An impeccable source close to the 2011 presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), who craved anonymity, yesterday confirmed to our correspondent that Ribadu has held various meetings with the leadership of the state PDP to perfect his defection any moment from now.

Ribadu is said to be offered an automatic ticket of the party. The source said Ribadu met with some national officials of the PDP yesterday in Abuja to finalize the defection plans.

The source said “He is yet to come out publicly on this matter but I can confirm to you that Ribadu is under intense pressure and he’s considering the offer. There are indications that arrangements may have been concluded on the matter.”

According to the source “the arrangement is that Ribadu is not going into the party to spend his money because he will be running on the established platform of the PDP in the state. If he accepts, there are indications that he would be offered automatic ticket of the party because other candidates would be willing to step down for him.”

Meanwhile, some youths in Adamawa state, under the aegis of Concerned Youth for Good Governance, have called on the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to join the state guber race in the on-coming bye election in the state.

The group made the call during an interactive section with various stakeholders from all the 2 local government areas in the state at Lelewal Motel in Yola.

According to the group, Ribadu’s pedigree and good record of service to his fatherland qualified him to salvage the state from total collapse and decay occasioned by the serious maladministration confronting it in the last 15 years.

Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Toungo ,described the former anti-graft agency chairman as an alternative to provide good governance in the state. The group said Ribadu is not only conversant with problem facing the state but also has the necessary pedigree to run it effectively with high degree of prudence.

The group said the research it undertook revealed that PDP in Adamawa State is about 70% and called on Ribadu to contest on the platform of the party.

“It is based on this understanding and due consideration, we call on all meaningful citizens of Adamawa to support our crusade of saving the state from total collapse” Toungo said

According to him, the content of the initiative is to strengthen the corporate existence of the people of the state who have been living together for over 200 years, adding that it is part of the strategies to sanitize the state by making a clarion call on Ribadu to join the PDP.

The youths described Ribadu as a man of excellent moral background, proper orientation ,integrity and unimpeachable character and with good track record of services and therefore called on him to join the PDP as a winning team in order to replicate same feat in the state by contesting the next governorship election.

However, the group in a six point communiqué issued urged Ribadu to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) so as to realize their dream.

“In Nigeria, the PDP remains the only platform that can guarantee electoral victory because of its teeming supporters. Our research and finding revealed that the PDP is well rooted with seventy percentage (70%) support base in the State (Adamawa)”
