A gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Salihu Lukman has called on the state party chairman, Bala Bantex and his secretary, Alhaji Bashir Saidu to resign their offices and face the duty of campaigning for Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Alhaji Lukman stated this while addressing a press conference at the weekend in the state saying the duo has abandoned their leadership duty to becoming campaign managers for El-Rufai.
“We elected this people in the capacity of our great party but as I am talking to you the party secretariat is under lock and the only sure place you can find them is El-Rufai’s house.
“These are people who are saddled with running the affairs of the party in the state on daily basis but that are not the case. We don’t have a State Executive Council (SEC) and the state leadership
committee in place. And these are critical organs necessary for the survival of any political party,” he said.
Alhaji Lukman also frowned at the recent purported nomination of Malam Nasir El-Rufai as a member of the APC Board of Trustee which he described as undemocratic and unlawful development been promoted by the state chairman of APC.
“The purported nomination of Malam el-Rufai was not the outcome of any state organ’s decision, any form of consultation, agreement or consensus.
“Our state party leaders since their elections have not made any public statement to promote the aspirations to defeat PDP in the 2015 general elections. Not even the unfortunate bomb blast of July 23, 2014 that was targeted at our leader, General Muhammadu Buhari could spur our state leadership to make a public statement.
“The only statement was abusive radio commentaries by the state secretary, Alhaji Saidu where he announced that the party already has candidates, in apparent reference to Mallam el- Rufai.
“I am also aware that the state party secretary is going about threatening all party officials to support the aspiration of Mallam El – Rufai or lose their seat” Lukman said.
