Fear of the unknown over dump of unidentified corpse in a popular street (namewitheld) Obiaruku community in Ukwani Local Government Area of Delta State has forced its residents out of their houses.
The corpse, identified as female, and in her late forties, was allegedly dumped at a popular street leading to the farm lands in the community on Tuesday evening with vital parts of her body removed including her brest and eye boobs.
It was gathered that the incident was the second of its kind in a major street in the community, especially during nightfall with vital part of the body removed including the eye boobs.
Investigation revealed that the Obiaruku community had been under siege of alleged ritual activities and killing perpetrated by suspected ritualists in the last few months, a situation that had forced many of its residents out of their houses for fear of arrest by the police.
Eyewitness, Joseph Emeka who spoke to our correspondent said that the corpse of the woman dumped in the area with vital parts of her body removed, clearly showed that it was the handiwork of the ritualists, adding that, “ we no longer sleep with our two eyes closed in Obiaruku community because of ritual activities by Yahoo Yahoo people and we are appealing to the police to come to our aid”.
But the Acting Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Edafe Bright who confirmed the incident said that the police were investigating the incident with a view to ensuring that those responsible for the act are brought to arrest.
He added that the corpse of the woman had been removed while the police has intensified efforts to ensure that residents of the community sleep with their two eyes closed.
“The police are investigating the incident and we will arrest those responsible for the act very soon”.
