Rep Solomon Maren (PDP) targeted 10, 000 persons in his 2-Day Free Medical care outreach separately holding in Mangu and Bokkos Local Governments of Plateau.
Maren made the disclosure while speaking at the opening ceremony of the outreaches at Allah-Nakowa Hospital, Mangu,
The Lawmaker said that similar free medical outreach was taking place at Luna Hospital in Bokkos Local Government.
He said when he conducted similar programme last year, over 7, 000 benefited, “but this year, my target is 10, 000 persons in my constituency (Mangu/Bokkos).’’
“It’s my candid believe that offering free medical treatment to my dearest people is the most effective way of reaching out to them with the dividends of democracy.
“The health of the people is my priority, mores o that it’s only with the living that things are done with and not the dead. It’s not just living but healthy living that makes life meaningful and worthwhile.
“The people have made me proud by sending to me the National Assembly to represent them and felt I should reciprocate by giving back to them in this manner beside the schools, boreholes, and skill acquisitions that I offered to them, ’’ he said.
Rep Maren disclosed he was able to sponsored six different bills and supported 62 others at the house a feat he said was a contrast to what was done by his predecessors.
He admonished the people to take advantage of the free medical outreach and get themselves and relations examined, treated and offered free drugs.
Also speaking, Plateau PDP Chairman, Chief Damishi Sango, commended Rep Maren for the free medical outreach, which he described as “well thoughtful’’ and “life saving.’’
Sango, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Amos Gombi, challenged other political office holders to emulate the good gestures offered by Maren to give back to their people for more prayers and blessings.
Mrs Peace Sunday, Mangu PDP Woman Leader, thanked the house of Rep members for the gesture which she said would revive the hope of the hopeless looking at the cost of treatment in hospitals nowadays.
She noted the bulk of the beneficiaries of the free medical outreach would be women and children and thanked the Rep members for touching the lives of the down trodden in his constituency at all times.
In the same vein, her counterpart in Bokkos, Mrs Anna Jerry, Bokkos PDP Woman Leader, expressed said, “you may not know the import of what you done to us by this free medical programme but all have to tell you is God bless you richly.’’
Mr Benedict Shiknughul, PDP Vice Chairman, Plateau Central Zone, commended Maren for continuously touching the lives of his electorate with many of his programmes right from his first year in office till date.
Dr Emmanuel Sabo, Team Leader of the doctors, told newsmen that some of the medical services being offered included surgery, Eye treatment, Dental and Laboratory Services.
Sabo said other general services being offered include; test for diabetes, Hypertension, malaria, Hepatitis, Peptic Ulcer, fever, HIV/Aids and free drugs for all sort of illness.
