“Prevention through committed advocacy and proper information, efficient communication dissemination are key to stop the spread,’’ he said.

Ms. Phil Mint, UNICEF Representative, said that African leaders need to unite and collaborate to fight and curb the disease.

According to her, most of the infected people are isolated and die in isolation; therefore, there is need for us to work in dignity and serene condition to help those affected.

“We have to ensure actions are taken to avoid stigmatising survivors of the virus. The Ebola team should be given appropriate supports which are important rights to insist on dignity.

“The media have to work in the same direction as they also have important role to play,’’ Mint said.

Also, Mrs. Birte Hald, Head of Ebola Operations in Guinea, said that there was mysterious death that occurred in a remote village in Guinea which was later found out to be Ebola.

We used the radio to inform people who did not know about it and we have to try and support the community’s aspect and efforts,’’ Hald said.

Hald said that those who lost their lives while helping others should not be forgotten. (NAN)
