Rangers FC of Enugu shocked Nigeria Champions Kano Pillars 2-1over the weekend in Enugu.

Emeka Eze gave the hosts the lead with a cracking goal from 30 yards in the ninth minute.

Kabiru Umar restored parity as he headed home Ado Ali’s free kick in the 31st minute to take the game to 1-1.

Ighadalor Osagona ensured Rangers regained their lead when he scored a beautiful goal in the 45th minute, after he turned away from his marker, moved in between two defenders before he fired the ball into the roof of the net, which Theophilus Afelokhai in goal for Pillars had no answer to.

Rangers now have three points from two games, while Pillars have a point from two games.

Emmanuel Daniel saved Eneji Otekpa’s 35-yard free kick in the 12th minute.

In the 20th minute, Manir Ubale failed to connect a pass when he was face-to-face with the Rangers goalkeeper.

Afelokhai in goal for Pillars made a wonderful save to keep the scoreline low, notably in the 46th minute save from Emeka Eze’s drive and then from Ejike Uzoenyi in the 68th minute.

Pillars lost two players, Kingsley Udoh and Shehu Abdullahi, to injuries which forced Coach Okey Emordi to make changes in the first half.
