The Principal of Junior Secondary School Gwako in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Joyce Oborokumo, has decried the paucity of water and sports facilities for students in the school.
Oborokumo however appealed to the FCT Administration to provide a water tank in the school for the benefit of students.
She also charged the FCT Administration to provide sporting equipment, needed to boost sporting activities in the school.
In particular, she the principal called for urgent intervention into provision of facilities for volley ball, basket ball and hand ball games respectively.
Oborokumo, made the appeal while delivering her welcome address during the 6th annual inter-house sports competition of the school held recently at the school sports ground.
Her words: “Games as an essential part of the school extra curricular activities provides for the physical wellbeing of students. For this reason, the Federal Ministry of Education in line with the National Policy in Education (NPE) ensures that sports activities are organised not only within the school, even, between other schools within and outside the state”.
Our correspondent reports that at the end of the sports competition, Red House took the 1st position; with Blue House maintaining the 2nd position, while the 3rd position went to Green House.
