The Executive Secretary of National University Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie has refused to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Education probing the allege bias on the Presidential Special Scholarship On Innovation and development, (PRESSID).
Speaking to reporters, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Education, Rep. Aminu Sulaiman (APC Kano), said the meeting initially reschedule for yesterday at the request of the NUC Executive Secretary, who requested for more time to enable him gather more data and make consultations, was postponed till the 24 of June 2014, due to his non appearance.
“Our members have been waiting here since 2.pm up to this time but one show up, and it is unfortunately, there’s no word from the chairman of the commission or any of his members”.
“As honourable members of this committee, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, believing that as human beings, they may be constrained by one thing or the other, which may be responsible for their inability to appear before the committee. We therefore decided to reschedule the meeting to 24 of June 2014”, he said.
