A POS Operator Identified as Blessing Oge, 22 – year old in Otovwodo Community in Ughelli axis in Delta state was on Tuesday allegedly shot on the thigh following her refusal to give out her bag to hoodlums during a failed attempt to rob her and others at gunpoint.
Eyewitness Umukoro James who spoke to Journalists in the area said that the armed bandits numbering four , two of them accosted the girl and tried to Collect her bag of money from her, unfortunately to no avail.
According to him,” she refused to release her bag and in a bid to demobilize her, the guy with gun shot her on her thigh and fled with the bag and her phone, leaving her in a pool of blood,it was the sound of the gunshot that attracted people to the Scene and chased one of the armed bandits, apprehended him and set him ablaze after thorough beating”
But the state Police Commissioner, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah in a swift reaction said” the Suspect had gone to rob the female POS operator and subsequently shot her on the leg during the incident, while fleeing the Scene of the incident, people saw him them and mobbed one of the hoodlums while others escaped,but before the police could arrive the scene , the mob had already set the Suspect ablaze”.
Meanwhile, the Suspect who names could not be ascertained as the time this report, was set ablaze by angry mob when he and his gang attempt to rob POS Operator failed
The police boss, however warned that the police will do everything possible to have all criminal activities in the state eradicated and called on hoodlums to relocate elsewhere or face the wrath of the security agents in the state.
