The Niger State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo has embarked on a series of consultative meetings with stakeholders in regard to the welfare and security of Corps members especially as they carry out their electoral duties ahead of 2019 general election in the state.
The Niger State Coordinator has held a closed door meeting with the State Director, Department of State Security(DSS) A.D Abubakar at the State DSS Headquarters in Minna on how to secured the corps members.
According to statement issued by the NYSC Head of Public Relations Unit, Mrs Favour Albert said during the meeting the DG inquired about security arrangements put in place or corps members during and after the election exercise in which corps members are to serve as electoral officers.
She further stated that the corps members have been briefed on the need to be completely apolitical and to maintain the highest level of diligence in order to achieve a successful election exercise.
She added that it is however, imperative to ensure, as much as possible, the safety of these corps members while carrying out this important national assignment.
In his response, the State DSS Director, assured the NYSC Niger State Coordinator that arrangements are in place for a peaceful electoral process in the State as far as security is concerned.
