From Osakhare Erese Asaba
The Police Anti-Human-Trafficking Team attached to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba on Tuesday uncovered human trafficking training home in Umuagu Quarters in Asaba, and arrested six women alleged to have been prepared for a journey in Ghana.
The Police Commissioner in the State disclosed that the sponsor of the training ground, alleged to be Madam Ajiiro was nowhere to be found when the police anti human trafficking team stormed the place, adding that six women who already were scheduled for a trip in Ghana were arrested.
He said: “the police team acted on intelligence gathering to uncover the training home which has been in existence in the past six months, we burst open the door that was closed for unsuspecting passersby in Umuagu Quarters and we saw array of women of different tribes being prepared for a trip in Ghana, unfortunately, the sponsor of the place had escaped.”
The Police boss who said the arrested women would help for further investigation, however assured Deltans of Police willingness to eradicate all forms of crimes in the state.
Sources said at the training home, the women are allegedly taught the rudiments of making more money through sex intercourse with unsuspecting, but sex hungry Ghanaians and white men who came to do business in Ghana.
One of the arrested victims, Christiana Odigie from Benin City, Edo State who spoke to our correspondent said: “the monarch in Benin had placed a curse on trafficking, and I have no job doing, so somebody introduced me to Madam Ajiro in Asaba, she had not taken any money from me, she promised to take me to Ghana before the police arrested us”.
Expectedly, there has been increasing demand for making quick money among Asaba youths, especially the unmarried women who allegedly have vowed that they cannot suffer with any struggling man, rather they will be “Oriaku” women who arrange “money for wealth”.
Our informed sources said that during night fall, the premises where these women unsuspectingly are kept, are beehive of activities, especially with sex hungry men and in most cases the ladies are clad in skimpy dresses that barely covers their nudity, and are seen wooing passersby men for “quickies” by Nnebisi road junction before they retire into where they live at the extreme end of Umuagu Quarters.
