The Adamawa state Police command has paraded 61 suspects for committing alleged criminal offences raging from kidnapping,armed robbery,cultism and participation in communal conflict .
Parading the suspects before the media in Yola, Monday, the Commissioner of police, Olugbenga Adeyanju explained that from 1st July to date, the command in a collaborative operations apprehended 33 kidnapping suspects,10 armed robbery suspects known as “Shila boys’,2 cult members and 16 for alleged inciting communal crisis in the state.
Adeyanju said his gallant officers with the professional hunters in various operations across the state recovers 5 Ak 47 rifles, 2Single barrel guns,1 G3 revolver pistol and 328 rounds of ammunition.
Adeyanju added that 10 carriages,1 Toyota car with registration No.RBH 186 AA,N58,420 (cash),1Tricycle and a mutilated human part suspected to be an eyeball were recovered from these suspects.
He stated that the paraded suspects were arrested From various local government areas across the state including; Fufore,Maiha ,Ganye,Mubi North ,Yola North as well as Gombi council respectively .
“Following reports received by the command,the gallant officers and men of anti -kidnapping unit,state investigation Bureau (SIB) and professional hunters succeeded in dislodging the criminals from their hideouts in various areas like;
“Fufore,Maiha,Mubi North and Yola North local government areas and arrested the above syndicate of kidnappers that kidnapped and collected ransoms of about N5,400,000 from one Alhaji Iro Ibrahim,Nasiru Saleh,Alhaji Muntari Salihu,Alhaji Ahmadu Malami and Nana Hafizu respectively.
“The group further confessed to have kidnapped one Nana Hafizu of Maiha,Ya’u Dande of Song LGA and Ali Hassan Digital from Mubi North Local Government Areas.
“Five (5) AK 47 rifles,2 Single barrel guns,1 G3 rifle,1 revolver pistol,1 Toyota Corolla,1 Tricycle,328 rounds of live ammunition of G3 rifle,5 live ammunition of revolver pistol and Ten cartridges were recovered from them”Adeyanju maintained
CP Adeyanju while appealing for more support and cooperation from the public so that his command can perform successfully in eradicating the state of criminal elements said all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
