The Police Officers Wives Association of Nigeria, (POWA), Kaduna state chapter in its bid to reduce the hardship being faced by members has commenced training of wives of other ranks in skills acquisition that will make them productive and self reliant.
The chairperson of POWA in Kaduna, Mrs. Maureen Abeh disclosed this when she led the executives on a courtesy visit to the wife of Kaduna State Governor, Architect Hadiza Isma El-Rufai at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna yesterday.
Mrs. Abeh who said since here assumption of officer as the chairperson her major task is to revived the association in the state. According to her, the association has almost gone into comatose because of lack of activities that will benefit members. She added that as wives of police officers, they are aware of the regimental nature of the husbands’ duties, so they have to support them from the home front.
Mrs. Abeh further disclosed that a permanent secretariat will soon be constructed for the association in the state in other to have operational base where the activities of the association will be carried out.
In her response, Architect El-Rufai commended the vision of wife of Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Abeh to revive Kaduna chapter of POWA. She assured of POWA of the support of Kaduna State Government in every relevant area.
Architect El-Rufai added that it is no gain saying that police officers duties are risky and as wives one is not sure whether they will return home alive because of the hazards associated with the job.
