The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested three suspects who specialize in breaking into business plaza and stealing handsets.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Aliyu Mukhtar disclosed this while speaking to Peoples Daily in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the suspects broke into a business plaza located along the popular Ahmadu Bello Way in Kaduna North Local Government Area and went away with handsets worth N1.3million and phone accessories valued at N322, 000.
The PPRO further said that upon complain, a team from the Kaduna State Security outfit ‘Operation Yaki’ mounted surveillance on the plaza and arrested the three suspects, saying, they were immediately taken into custody and investigation has commenced into the matter especially, identifying their receivers.
He added that for sometimes business owners in the plaza have complained of the activities of shop breakers who usually break into their shops and cart away their handsets and accessories.
Stealing of handsets has become rampant in Kaduna metropolis recently.
Investigation revealed that areas such as Malali primary school, LEA Badarawa, Shagari road in Kaduna North Local Government, a street popularly known as ‘Black street’ along Kachia, Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Government Areas a notorious for this.
Reacting to this, ASP Mukhtar, said the police is launching special operation to arrest perpetrators of this act.
He, however, called on members of the public to avail the police with information that will help them nab those involved in the act.
