Delta State Police Command Asaba on Tuesday confirmed a gas cylinder explosion in Warri, saying a couple were injured and pulled off building foundation.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Adeleke Adeyinka who spoke to journalists in Asaba, said the incident was unfortunate as there was serious tension in Warri on Monday during which a cooking gas cylinder exploded and injured a man and his wife Identified as Philip Osehe.
Adeyinka further disclosed that in spite of the tragedy that followed the explosion, no life was lost adding that the Police were investigating the circumstances that led to the explosion of the gas cylinder.
It was gathered a gas cylinder exploded in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State at 1pm on the fateful Monday and injured a couple including pulling down a building as the mishap also destroyed property worth millions of naira at a residence beside the”B” Division Police station.
The collapsed building trapped injured Philip and the wife as they begged for help from well-meaning Nigerians while the fire was raging.
Philip is a security guard with one of the banks in the area who was caught in the web of gas cylinder explosion as it took a swift intervention of officials of the Delta State Fire Service to put out the raging fire and save it from spreading widely to others.
