In line with the Delta state Police Command’s efforts to combat crime in the state, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogwashi Uku Police Division, CSP Augustine Oyamielen, has commences the recruitment of 300 youths for Vigilante Services in the area.
CSP Augustine Oyamielen who spoke to Journalists in Asaba on Monday, explained that there was urgent need for the recruitment following the increasing crime rate in the community, adding that the inclusion of the youths will help in the proper Policing of the community and also bring to book perpetrators of Crimes in the area
He said that the 300 youths were taken from the 10 Communities under his Division as they were carefully selected by Prominent and reliable guarantors who pledged to their good Conducts including their trust worthyness, adding that the recruitment exercise would foster safety in the area and urged the people of Ogwashi Uku to support the process of preventing Crimes
CPS Augustine Oyamielen said that the youths volunteered to serve due to the increase in Crimes, adding that Since they started working with the Police , Crimes have reduced drastically and effecting arrest of offenders have become easy for the Police because they know virtually every body in their Community.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke has warned criminals operating in the state to relocate and avoid what will send them to their early grave.
