Police ban public gathering in Zamfara

In its effort to prevent possible spread of COVID-19, Zamfara State Police Command has announced the suspension of all forms of public gathering capable of accommodating more than twenty persons at a time.
This was heralded yesterday by the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo as he paraded suspected gang of notorious kidnappers and armed robbers been arrested by the men of the Command.
CP Nagogo has recalled that, the federal government has banned all social gatherings by whatever name called in it’s bid to protect the citizenry from contacting the monster disease, otherwise known as Corona virus.
“The Inspector General of Police has directed all AIG’s and CP’s to enforce all orders made by the government relating to spread of this disease.
“In the light of this, Zamfara State Command in concert effort with the State Government, has banned all such meetings, processions and other forms of gatherings by whatever name called, this banning includes all schools including Arabic Islamiyya schools with immediate effect”, the CP has warned.
He further directed Area Commanders, DPO’s and other Investigating Unit Commanders to decongestion their detention facilities except that of hard criminals who were arrested for offences of banditry, armed robbery, Kidnapping, murder and other cases of that nature.
In the same light, the has succeeded in the arrest of a bandits leader identified as Sani Boka after killing one Alhaji Umar Ibrahim at Dan Awo village in Gummi local government area and also kidnapped his two wives along with the sum of N200,000.
“On the same date, one of the kidnapped wives of the deceased was able to identified Sani Boka of Masama village under Gummi local government area that, he was one of those killed their husbands and took them away.
“The arrest of Sani Boka led to the arrest of other five suspects who participated in the murder of the deceased and the kidnap of the two women who were now released.
“Investigation also revealed that, the relatives were forced to pay N1,800,000, and all the arrested suspects have confessed to the crime. It is important to stress here that, not all the time act of kidnapping and banditry are being perpetrated by the bandits in the forest.
“These hoodlums that were arrested are within the same village and villages around, in fact, one of the suspects is a younger brother to the deceased wife and very close friend to the deceased”, the CP stated.
