Seperatives of the Kano state police command averted what would have been another deadly bomb attack in Kano, shortly after two female suicide bombers attacked Kantin-Kwari market, killing four persons on Wednesday.

A competent security source, who doesn’t want his name mentioned in the print, told our correspondent that the Police, acting on a tip – off moved swiftly to arrest a thirteen-year old would-be female suicide bomber, who targeted a treatment centre in the outskirt of the metropolis on Wednesday.

The source, added that the teen suicide bomber went to seek medical treatment in a densely populated area outside the Kano metropolis around 4: pm, shortly after the suicide attack in Kantin-Kwari market and told hospital officials that she sustained injuries in the attack and needed to be treated urgently.

According to the source, she was with the two suicide bombers that detonated their explosives at Kantin-Kwari market, saying that was how she sustained injuries and wanted to be treated.

But officials of the undisclosed hospital sensed foul play and decided to invite the Police, but didn’t disclose to the girl their mission, after telling her to relax and that they will attend to her.

Men of the Kano state Police Ordinance Department arrived and arrested the girl, alongside a man that brought her on a tricycle, and discovered that she was wearing a jacket of primed improvised explosive device.

The source, further added that preliminary investigation has shown that the teen female would be suicide bomber was smuggled into Kano from Bauchi state, to carry out the heinous crime.

Our correspondent gathered that, arrest of the duo has equally given the security agents lead and some number of arrest has been made in that regard at the metropolis in areas like Sabon Mandawari among others.

Following the arrest, an explosive that was planted in the popular grain market, Dawanau was recovered by the Police and diffused without any damage.

When contacted to confirm the arrest, the Kano state police commissioner, Aderinle Shinaba denied knowledge of such arrest, but confirmed that the Police uncovered a bomb planted in the market, but has been diffused, but assured that the police and other sister security agencies are working assiduously to rid the state of criminals.
