Following the killing of a Police Officer by # End SARS protesters in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, the police command in the state on Sunday confirmed the arrest of nine suspects in connection with the incident.
Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) of the Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who confirmed this to our Correspondent, said apart from the persons so far arrested, seven vehicles were also impounded by the police.
He added that the arrrested suspects were currently detained at the Ughelli Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force as they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Recall that protesters in their hundreds,mainly youths had over the week protested against the activities of Special Anti Robbery Squad ( SARS), a situation they allegedly killed a police officer and also called for the disbandment of the unit as they matched in firce manners along Otuvwodo through Isoko road to Ughelli main market.
Meanwhile, the police also confirmed the rescue of five persons recently abducted when passengers traveling from Ughelli to Asaba were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Police Public Relations Officer in the state said that the actual number of persons abducted was yet to be established, explaining that the five rescued persons have been reunited with their various family members, while effforts were ongoing to track down others still in the custody of the kidnappers.
