The Police in Jigawa state has announced the arrest of one Mamman Rabi’u Babaru of Habatsa village area of Gagarawa local government for killing his wife Lamura Rabi’u.
The Commissioner of Police Jigawa state Command, CP Bala Zama Senchi dropped the hint while briefing news men yesterday at Police headquarters Dutse.
He explained that, on 20th July, 2018 the police received complaint from the elder brother of the deceased wife Lamura Rabiu that he sighted the cloth of his sister in a shallow grave.
CP Senchi maintained that, hence the matter has been reported, the police arrested the husband Mamman Rabiu and embarked on investigation.
According to him, in the course of investigation the suspect confessed to have killed his wife two years ago and buried her corpse in a shallow grave.
The suspect who confessed committing the crime told our reporter that there was quarrel between him and the deceased and on the process the deceased insulted him, this made him to use stick to beat her to death.
“We have misunderstanding between us where she insulted me, I warned her not to repeat it and she insulted me again, she left the house and went outside the town, when I followed her to the bush and asked her to return to the house, she refused and insulted me again this made me to use stick and beat her to death and I used hoe to dig a hole where I put her corpse inside,” the husband said.
The police commissioner said, the suspect was arrested at the house of his sawyer on his effort to make people forget the matter.
CP Zenchi urged the people of Jigawa state to remain vigilant and report any suspected move to the nearby police station.
