Police detectives attached to the Delta state Police Command, and Criminal Investigation Department ( SCID) have arrested alleged serial rapist identified as Dominic Daniel Okwekwe 33 years old who had been on its wanted list.
Confirming the arrest of the Suspect to Journalists on Sunday, the Police Commissioner in the state, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah said that Dominic Daniel Okwekwe hails from Orji River in Enugu state adding that he (Suspect) was arrested in Asaba at the weekend after several months of looking for him to no avail.
Saying that the Suspect was cooling off his heels at the SCID Cell, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah disclosed that the Suspect upon interrogation admitted to the crime, saying he specializes in luring women and girls into hotels and thereafter rape them including put them in pornographic videos, hold them hostage before robbing them
Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah said” we have arrested a serial rapist who used to get ladies to hotels, rape them, do pornographic videos with them at the same time, rob them of their hard earned money, he will transfer money from their phones to his account, we have arrested him and he is cooling off at the SCID Cell” adding that on Completion of investigation, he will be charged to court.
Meanwhile, motorcycle and tricycle operators in Abraka and Obiriaku Community have called on the Delta state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah to caution police officers along the route against the alleged Illegal collection of N100 bribe .
They alleged that should they fail to part with the sum, their motorcycles and tricycles are impounded, lamenting that the situation was becoming too unbecoming in the last few weeks in the areas
One of them, Ephraim Tayo who spoke to our Correspondent on telephone said” the Police must collect N100,00 from us every trip and we are tied of the system, if we fail to pay the N100,00 we will not work the whole day and we are appealing to the Police authorities to help us out so that we can feed our family members at home”
But in a swift reaction, the Police Commissioner in the state, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah said Investigation was ongoing into the allegations, warning that the police will deal with any of the officer found collecting money from motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state except on the ground that their papers are not completely up to date whereby they can arrested and prosecuted according to the law without asking for any bribe.
