Police arrest 21 youths in Delta community for alleged Marijuana possession

The Anti Crime team Police attached to Abraka Police Division in Delta state in the early hours of Monday arrested twenty- one youths in the area for allegedly being in the possession of bags of Indian hemp Popular known as ‘ Marijuana”
CSP Hassan Isah, the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) in the area who Confirmed the arrest of the Suspects to Journalists in the area, said over 200 bags were recovered by the police in the hideout of the Suspects where they allegedly were trying to distribute them to their Customers outside Abraka Community, adding that the police acted on intelligence gathering
Saying that investigation was ongoing, CSP Hassan Isah said that the Suspects will be charged to Court on Completion of investigation, adding that the Suspects upon interrogation, confessed to the Crime as their means of livelihood considering the high rate of unemployment in the state. But insiders alleged that the suspects are Kidnap kinpins who have been responsible for the increasing Kidnap Cases in Abraka Community and its environs in the recent times.
Speaking further, CSP Hassan Isah said” Since we succeeded in wiping out Yahoo, Yahoo in Abraka Community, they have shifted to Indian hemp packaging and many of the idle youths in the community are involved, the Police will however continue to arrest them in their operational hideouts just as we have done in arresting 21 Suspects”
Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) in charge of Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, CSP Mohammed Nahala has averted what would have been a serious crisis between farmers and Fulani hersdmen at Emede Farmland, Okpe Olomoro over Malicious destruction of Crops and farmland in the area.
Farmers at Okpe Olomoro had over times decried incessant destruction of their crops and farmland by herdsmen who converted their farmland to grazing field for their cattle and deprived them of peaceful coexistence, leading to a building of strife, Capable of Creating a breakdown of law and order in the Community.
CSP Nahala got information and immediately swung into action following a report by the farmers of the malicious destruction of their Crops by Cattle, in spite of several warnings which the herdsmen turned down as they (hersdmen).had also called on the DPO to Prevail on the herdsmen who seemed recalcitrant after several peaceful approaches by the farmers, who alleged that they had bought the area for grazing purpose and farmers should fence their crops to avoid cattle grazing on them.
CSP Nahala reportedly sent Policemen and Vigilante group from Olomoro Community to assess extent of the Crops and farmland destroyed by the Cattle at Emede Farmland and also visited the reported RUGA Created by the hersdmen at Olomoro farmland.
The policemen and vigilante confirmed the malicious destruction of crops and RUGA claim by the herdsmen, and however on sighting the Security team, the hersdmen took to their heels, leaving their cattle, prompting the Police to Contact their leader, Alhaji Audu Kadir for interrogation. It was gathered that when interrogated at the Divisional Police headquarters, oleh , Alhaji Audu Kadir confirmed the destruction of Crops at Emede Farmland by his Cattle and accepted to pay damages.
He denied buying any farmland for grazing at Olomoro Community, noting that his boys lied and promised to relocate from the area, but CSP Nahala in his wisdom, urged Alhaji Audu to sign an undertaking with the police in the presence of the farmers and cautioned his boys to steer clear of Okpe Olomoro farmland area
He reiterated the importance of cordial relationship between farmers and herders in Olomoro Community, adding that Crops and farmland areas must be avoided by cattle, as it would be recalled that Chief Gabriel Erueme from Olomoro shot one of the Cows owned by Alhaji Audu Kadir at Okpe Olomoro farmland recently over same malicious destruction of Crops in his farm, as the incident caused panic in the area before it was resolved.
