One suspect has been arrested by the Bauchi state Police Command in connection with recovery of arms and improvised explosive devices buried in a building somewhere in Azare town, in Katagum local government area, used for the attacks on police stations and banks located at Misau and Azare.
The state’s police spokesman, Mohammed Haruna, a deputy superintendent of police, disclosed this to newsmen at the weekend, in Bauchi, saying that the police arrested the armed robbery suspect and recovered arms and IEDs last Wednesday.
According to him since then, the Command arrested one Yahaya Adamu Abubakar, 32 years of age, of Kofar Dumi, on August 1, in connection with the case.
“The suspect confessed to have participated in the attacks on police stations and banks at Misau and Azare in 2012, led by their leader one Abu Salma, now at large.
The PPRO said the following exhibits were recovered from him, three Barreta rifles, two G3 Rifles, one K2 rifle and one double-barrel gun respectively.
DSP Haruna said investigation is in progress and appealed to the general public to help with any useful information.
