The accused are Fredrick Odijie, Iyobosa Ikhimwin, Owa Adodo, Ehirobo Nosa, and Enoruwa Godwin.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Aigbodion Obakpolor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 25 at Iyanomo village, Benin.
According to the prosecutor, the accused conspired to commit felony.
Obakpolor said the accused persons unlawfully assaulted and caused rievous harm to Mr Monday Ogbede and Odigie Godfrey.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 516, 335, and 55 of the Criminal Code.
If convicted of the three charges, they are liable to 17 years imprisonment.
The prosecutor, however, did object to the bail application by Mr Steven Okoro, the counsel to the accused persons.The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. Frank Idiake, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with a surety in like sum.
He said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case to Aug. 5. (NAN)
