Police arraign 2 guards for abducting housemaid
The police have arraigned two men at a Senior Magistrates’ court, in Life Camp, Abuja, for alleged abduction of a housemaid.
The accused, Monday Nwamiri, 23, and Simon Monday, 25, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and abduction.
The prosecutor, Insp. Audu Bitrus, told the court that the accused conspired to commit the offence on June 4.
Bitrus said one Ifeoma Obasi of Favour Land Estate, Abuja, reported the offence at the Life Camp Police Station.
Bitrus told the court that Nwamiri visited her house in Apo in a taxi and took away her maid, Nwafor Ukamaka.
He said the accused took the girl to Monday’s house in Durumi village where he harboured her without her consent.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 79 and 272 of the Penal code respectively.
Senior Magistrate Zubairu Muhammed granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till June 23 for hearing. (NAN)
