Police apprehend suspected killer of officer in Benue

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Benue State Police Command yesterday arrested the suspected killer of a Police Sergeant, Bawa Ekoja, attached to its ‘Operation Zenda’ unit.

The suspected killer, whose identity was not disclosed to newsmen by the command’s Public Relations’ officer, SP Daniel Ezeala, is said to be an Okada man-turned taxi driver. He was arrested with the gun he had snatched from the deceased Sergeant.

Peoples Daily observed that since the murder of the policeman, security has been thoroughly intensified within Makurdi town as the command has commenced the stop-and-search operation apparently to check the rising wave of criminal activities in the state.

It could be recalled that Bawa was shot at the back thrice as he going home after closing from work at about 6 a.m., around Bem Hotel, Ankpa Quarters and his gun snatched away.
