A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Gwagwalada Police Divisional Headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CSP Dankwano Wilson, has said that police cannot tackle the issues of security alone in the area.
He said: “The job of policing is far too tasking and important to be left in the hands of the police alone and no agency can solely achieve this great feat alone”.
The Gwagwalada DPO, who made this known during the Inauguration ceremony of the Local Government Community Policing Advisory Committee (LGCPAC) at the Police Divisional Headquarters in Gwagwalada.
“Today, we are witnessing the inauguration of the Inauguration ceremony of the Local Government Community Policing Advisory Committee (LGCPAC). By doing so, police problems and constraints are better appreciated, while the community actively participates in policing roles through volunteer schemes, initiating neighborhood support networks and augmenting Police patrol activities”.
“All over the world, the primary duties of the police are the prevention and detection of crime, the apprehension of offenders, the preservation of law and order”, Wilson said.
He added that the other primary duties of the police were the protection of lives and property, the due enforcement of all laws and regulations.
Meanwhile, the LGCPAC was inaugurated by the Area Commander, ACP Sunday Oboebo.
