Bauchi State Police Command in collaboration with Ali Kwara team has killed three armed robbers in Maladumba area of Misau Local Government Area of the State and recovered arms and ammunitions.
Addressing journalist at the police headquarters in Bauchi , the Command’s spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar stated that the illegal arms recovery was a concerted effort following the 21 days ultimatum given by the Inspector General Of Police (IGP), Ibrahim K. Idris in February.
He said,” that a combined team of IGP Monitoring Unit in conjunction with Bauchi renowned hunter, AliKwara trailed three suspected armed robbers to Maladunba forest in Misau LGA while planning to attack unsuspecting members of the public, on sighting the team, the suspects engaged them on a fierce shoot out which lasted for some minutes. As a result, the three (3) suspected armed robbers sustained fatal injuries and were taken to General Hospital Misau and Medical doctor certified them dead.”
Kamal said , three AK47 rifles, one locally fabricated Double Barrel gun, 210 live ammunition of 7.62mm caliber, six catridges and six empty AK47 riffle Magazines were recovered from the suspects.
Other exhibits recovered according to DSP Datti were a Silver Coloured Golf 3 Station Wagon with registration number AH 471 GWA, one Cutlass, two pairs of police uniform and N16,900.
He said that the case is under investigation.
Similarly Police Spokesman said Police in Bauchi state have recovered a catcher of illegal firearms and ammunitions from bandits and other suspects across the state and therefore stated that the command is calling on members of the public to surrender the illegal arms and ammunitions in their possession.
Kamal said “The command calls on the general public to avail the police with useful information on persons in possession of firearms or where such firearms are kept or any information that will assist the command in the fight against crime.
Kamal said “ In compliance with IGP directives, the commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, CP Sanusi Lemu, psc inaugurated Police Joint Task Enforcement Team to that effect, Consequently, the command has so far successfully recovered a total number of Eighty Three (83) prohibited/illegal firearms and seven hundred and two (Z702) live ammunition from suspected criminals and persons that voluntarily surrendered their firearms to the command.”
DSP Datti disclosed that the arms recovered were; 30 AK47 rifles, One AK49 rifle, Five Single Barrel Guns, 20 fabricated guns and two Double Barrel guns.
Other arms recovered include; Four Pump Action guns, One K2 rifle, 20 Pistols, 702 live ammunitions and 70 cartridges.
