Following his excellent professional career as a medical doctor and an administrator, a group in Plateau State under the aegis of Coalition of Plateau Youths has asked a prominent son of the state, Dr. Elijah Miner to join the league of aspirants eyeing the governorship of the state in next year election.
The National Coordinator of the group, Michael Izang who addressed journalists in Abuja yesterday said the time has come for the leadership of Plateau State to be given to professionals.
He said Dr. Miner, who is a consultant surgeon deserves the support of all citizens of Plateau State because of his commitment to peoples’ welfare noting that that was why the group was asking him to pick up nomination form to contest the governorship election next year.
“We are all convinced that Dr. Miner, a core professional deserves our support. We are urging him to step forward to be part of the race. He has all it takes because we believe in professional excellence which he represents and which is what is needed right now in Plateau State” he said.
While reiterating that the involvement of people like the medical doctor in the politics of the state represents a paradigm shift from the status quo in the area of governance and general administration in the state, Izang said, youths as well as women in the state are pleading with him to join the governorship race.
The national coordinator further said that Dr. Miner as a peace advocate is much needed by the state for the restoration of peace to engender development. “He is a detribalized Nigerian out of many that people want to lead Plateau State,” Izang concluded.
