Coach Kennedy Boboye has stated that NPFL champions, Plateau United will make a huge impact on their debut in the CAF Champions League next year despite a poor run in the competition by Nigeria champions in recent times.
“We were not given much of a chance in the league and we finished as champions,” Boboye said.
“We will take the Champions League by storm, just as we did in the league.
“Our championship win is now a thing of the past as we have a big task ahead of us in the Champions League; the NPFL is done and dusted, we are no more celebrating that victory.
“With hard work, we will surpass expectations in the Champions League.”
The young coach confirmed they plan several new signings to fortify the team for their international challenge.
“We have discussed with some players who we scouted from other clubs in the course of the past season. We have 70% assurances we will have these players to strengthen our team for the task ahead,” he further explained.
The Jos club have already proposed to train in the island-nation of Seychelles as part of their preparations to take on the best of the continent.
The former Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors coach also said he expects the Plateau State Government to soon host and reward the team for making history by winning a first-ever NPFL crown, adding that the delay was caused by the bereavement suffered by Governor Simon Lalong recently.
