By Taofeek Lawal

Defending champions of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Kano Pillars yesterday at the Sani Abacha Stadium won the 2013/2014 league after defeating Nembe City of Bayelsa by four goals to nil.

The Okey Emordi boys have thus set a new record in as they have now won the league three consecutive times. Pillars knowing what was at stake left nothing to chance and pummeled Nembe who had already been relegated to the lower league before the encounter.

Pillars started the first stanza of the league poorly after former coach; Babaganaru left to join Nasarawa United in the summer had resurgence in the second stanza and went 10 games unbeaten to now claim the third title in a row.

The Sai Maisu Gida will represent Nigeria in the prestigious CAF Champions League next football season and will meet Enyimba at the Aba Township Stadium in the last game of the season which is going to be a mere formality. Pillars have 65 points from 37 games and Enyimba have garnered 61 points from the same number of games.
