The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East region has began to woo the South East Victory Group for Buhari, to backdown and work for its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The coordinator of the group, Wilfred Okeke, said in a statement that all sorts of offers are being made by the PDP to the group, saying the group and its members in the region are being enticed with monetary offers.
Okeke said the alleged pressure on the group by the PDP is evidence of
the success already recorded in the zone for President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the South East, which was once perceived as a fortress for the opposition PDP.
He said that the group has resolved to ignore the PDP with its monetary offers and focus instead on the onerous task of delivering the south east completely for President Buhari in the February 16th presidential election and by so doing place the south east in the center where it rightly belongs.
According to him, “the group’s position is that these past four years of being in the opposition and antagonistic to the federal government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari has yielded little or nothing for the south east in the form of democracy dividends.
He said to this end, the south east needed to change direction and strategy in the forth coming presidential election by supporting the second term of President Buhari.
