The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has declared ward delegates congress in five wards of Ilorin West Local Government Area where election did not hold according to the party’s guidelines as inconclusive.
PDP State Publicity Committee Chairman, Chief Rex Olawoye who disclosed this weekend at the end of results collation of the ward congress held on Saturday to elect delegates that would determine the party’s flag bearers, adding that the affected areas were unable to submit results.
It was learnt that the affected wards were unable to submit any result as at the time of submitting final results to the party’s national monitoring officers led by Senator Iyiola Omisore.
It would be recalled that PDP chairmanship of Ilorin West Local Government was a subject of litigation leading an Ilorin High Court to restrain Olumegbon from parading himself as chairman and the party from recognizing him so.
It was gathered that there were protests against imposition, substitution or refusal to submit delegates to open ballot system adopted at the congress led to hitches in some wards.
Some state executive members of the party accused of doctoring the election results from the field narrowly escaped being lynched by aggrieved party members who insisted on election or open affirmation of delegates allegedly picked by consensus.
The aggrieved party members claimed that those accused of attempting to do the bids of their masters by influencing the delegate congress was never popular in their wards and therefore the protests to resist candidates’ imposition.
